Bridal shower bingo is a variation of buzzword bingo, a bingo game which uses words instead of numbers. This game is popular in the US where bridal showers, parties given for a bride before her wedding, are also popular.

As with buzzword bingo, players prepare bingo cards with buzzwords and tick them off when they are mentioned. The words are typically arranged in a 5 by 5 grid. The goal of the game, as in normal bingo is to tick off all the words on the bingo card and shout ‘Bingo’.

In bridal shower bingo, typical words used include ‘bride’, ‘groom’, ‘wedding’ or ‘love’. The game probably works better if the organizer sorts out the bingo cards beforehand and hands them out at the beginning of the shower.

If you wish to play bridal shower bingo there are a number of websites that supply pre-made bingo cards. Some websites also give you the option to use your own words if you so wish. This is particularly useful if you want to use words that specifically refer to the bride and groom, and gives the game a personal touch.

You will need to decide on what patterns to award prizes for and make sure each participant is aware of the rules. If you are awarding prizes for patterns (diagonals, horizontal line, vertical line) have some small prizes for this, and have one big prize for a full house.
