Bingo organizers have not only used the Internet to offer an alternative to visiting a bingo hall. They are also using television as a means of offering interactive real-time bingo games that can be played within the comfort of your home.
Gala TV was launched by the Gala Coral Group in February 2009. It is available on Sky Channel 841 and produces eight hours of broadcasting 7 days a week. It is also streamed live to the Gala TV website so it can be watched online. Sharon Osbourne has been the bingo caller from 2am to 3am and also from 5pm to 6pm.
BingoJoy launched in the UK online bingo market in November 2007. The TV programming is available on the website and also Sky Channels 158, 168 and 200 during the day.
Big Box Bingo is available every Friday evening at 6:30pm on Sky Channel 848. During the evening six games of bingo are played. The cards costing £1.50 can be printed out our sent via the post. The live games guarantee cash wins and six £100,000 jackpot prizes weekly.
ITV launched a TV bingo game that was free to play. It was presented by Jenny Powell, Melinda Messenger and Michael Underwood. Unfortunately it was removed from the schedule due to lack of interest.
Channel Five announced in June 2009 the launch of a Channel Five Bingo night. It is hoped this will expand the channel’s digital business. Channel Five hopes to launch the event by the end of 2010.
